San Elijo Tree Lighting Ceremony
What a great way to bring in the Christmas holiday! San Elijo Tree Lighting Ceremony is located near 1200 Elfin Forest Rd E, Escondido, CA 92029 (MAP LINK) in the San Elijo town square – can’t miss it. The San Elijo Annual Tree lighting ceremony will be held this year on Friday, December 6th, 2013. The festive event is always held at the beginning of December but the exact date varies each year. 2014 and on event times can be found here. I grew up in this area of Elfin Forest (now neighbored by San Elijo), my parents still living there, so it’s still partly our community. But fear not, it’s a very large event (around 1500 – 2000 people), with tons of friendly people, and no ones checking ID’s at the door. So come one, come all to this great tree lighting ceremony. Hands down the best one in North County!
The annual ceremony takes place from 6:30PM-8:30PM. The tree will be lit at 7:00pm. From 7:15PM-7:45PM a toy soldier will take the stage and entertain everyone young and old with a rib-tickling magic show! There are plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy! Dickens-style carolers fill the air with some familiar holiday tunes, festive elves make balloon animals and other creations, and Santa even makes a special trip from the North Pole! Complimentary hot chocolate, cider and cookies are served. A few yummy food trucks will be there and will have a variety of refreshments available for purchase. Also, there is an ornament making station at the event with a variety of items to choose from. Bring $5.00 cash if you wish to participate and create your own special craft!
